Nathan O'Regan

Nathan O'Regan

Born in Cork to a musical family, O’Regan signed to a major label when he was just 16 years old after his band won a radio competition. “I was absolutely terrible to begin with, to be honest,” he recalls now. “I definitely appreciated those early experiences of working with professional songwriters.” Yet, as is shamefully too often the case with major labels, O’Regan’s career was put on hold; his debut project stalled, and he was eventually dropped after four years.

So Nathan upped sticks and moved to Belfast, where he began making a name for himself on the local live circuit. “There was always a gig on, and it was a good way to make money, while also cutting my teeth with live performances,” he explains. “I feel like a lot of musicians might hold back, waiting for the right kind of venue or something, but I really just wanted to play anywhere that’d have me.” He was inspired by how many like-minded, talented artists he came across: “Belfast definitely punches above its weight,” he says, “there are so many world-class players.”

Last year O’Regan signed to the Belfast-based independent label Zenith Cafe. “It feels like a momentous thing. I’ve been working towards this for almost half my life. It feels like an introduction of sorts, or starting from the very beginning.”

His early signing was “an amazing experience creatively”, he says, but also “a bit of a learning curve – it made me realise that a lot of people in this industry have no idea what they’re doing.”

He’s considerably more at home on Zenith Cafe: “It’s very DIY, we’re all working together, and they’re just really generous and supportive – everyone’s very passionate about music”.

Nathan’s Olive Branch Tour kicks off in late September and will cover UK & Ireland.

The Invites Ensemble - under the direction of Wouter Vandenabeele

The Invites Ensemble - under the direction of Wouter Vandenabeele

The ensemble is formed by the course participants of ‘The Invites Ensemble course’. A music workshop organised by Roots in Tune, a non-profit organisation aiming to connect people from different cultures through music and the arts.

Under their program ‘The Invites’, Roots in Tune wishes to encourage members of the community to invite an artist from their culture or country of origin to Ireland and organise an event with them.

The ‘invité’ in this case is Wouter Vandenabeele, a Belgian violinist and composer from Ghent. He is invited by Els Lemahieu, a Belgian musician who has been living in Ireland since 2015.

The ensemble workshop with Wouter takes place in Roundwood, Co. Wicklow, from April 8th till April 13th 2026. Approximately 25 musicians from Belgium and Ireland are invited to join and form the Ensemble during the project. The project will include a day with Irish guest tutors Bríd Harper and Joe McKenna who will teach some Irish tunes that will be integrated in the repertoire and arranged by Wouter for the ensemble.

Wouter is known in Belgium and abroad for his wonderful artistic work and projects such as, Hyraeth, Fiddlers on the move and the folk/worldmusic bands ‘Olla Vogala’, ‘Ambrozijn’, 'Tamala' and ‘The Ghent folk Violin project’. He is experienced at leading and composing for large folk and world music ensembles and participated as an artistic mentor on several ‘Ethno’ projects around the world. Wouter’s first steps into the world of Folk and traditional music was through his love for Irish music, over the past decade he discovered and mastered many other music styles from around the world which will be reflected in the the repertoire of ensemble.

The ensemble will start of the evening with their concert and will continue with an informal jam session open to everyone who wishes to join the fun.

Mr. Irish Bastard's Two Night Stand - Two Nights Live at The Cobblestone

Mr. Irish Bastard's Two Night Stand - Two Nights Live at The Cobblestone

Mr. Irish Bastard is one of the most formidable and recognised bands amongst the celtic punk genre around the world today. Staying true to the name, the band was formed by purebred Irish Bastard, Chris Lennon in Münster, Germany after a night on the lash with fellow drunkard and deviant, Jan Strecker. Armed with an acoustic guitar and a banjo, the duo quickly recruited a motley crew of likeminded Irish (and German) hooligans and set off to conquer the world, one Irish pub at a time.

Four months, roughly three hundred pork pies, ninety packs of cigarettes, fifty seven litres of Jameson, and 3 concussions later, the band emerged from the studio with their first attempt “St. Mary’s School of Drinking”. Seven songs about everything from drinking, to… erm… drinking.

… And the rest, is history.

History they will never remember, unfortunately, because, well… alcohol. Which makes it kinda hard to write a band biography, but according to Google, Mr. Irish Bastard has shared the stage with bands of high ilk, such as The Pogues, Dropkick Murphys, The Levellers and Flogging Molly (to name a few), and performed at some of the most prestigious festivals in Europe such as Wacken, Rock Harz and Open Flair.

A quick Google image search also shows members of the band in various degrees of inebriation on stage in China, Japan and what appears to be Ukraine.

This is all very well and good, but there’s no point dwelling on the past when it comes to Mr. Irish Bastard as - like a fine prison-cell-toilet-moonshine-gin - despite being formed from filth, continues to get easier to digest, more tolerable to consume and harder to refuse as the years go by. Bad metaphors aside, the band only continues to grow with every release. Now on their 7th studio album “Battle Songs of the Damned”, the choruses are only getting catchier, the shows are only getting bigger and the reputation of being one of the hardest working and prestigious celtic punk bands in the world, only gets stronger.

Armed with almost 20 years worth of drunken anthems and nursery rhymes on crack, Mr. Irish Bastard are hurdling towards 2025 with tour plans for everywhere from London to Leipzig in support of “Battle Songs of the Damned”.

Ceoil for Deema: A Gaza Fundraiser

Ceoil for Deema: A Gaza Fundraiser

Join us on the night of Thursday December 11th for a night of music to raise funds for Deema and her family in Gaza - https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-deema-and-her-family-escape-gaza - @helpdeema_andherfamily

Come to enjoy a great lineup and give much needed support to a family that have survived the genocide and hope to rebuild their lives. Music on the night will come from Throwing Shapes, Madra Salach, GEIS and Dunny. Gráinnemir Abualrob will perform a spoken word piece. Merchandise will be available in support of The Freedom Theatre based in Jenin refugee camp, and Stay Human, a collective providing educational assistance and essential supplies to people in Gaza. There will also be a raffle on the night for some wonderful prizes. All proceeds from the show tickets and the raffle will go to Deema and her family, with money spent on merch going to the respective organisations.

Doors @ 7pm. Show starts @ 8pm.

Deema is an amazing woman from Khan Younis who saw her family home and her university destroyed in the first days of the genocide. Since then she has been displaced many times. She has seen her grandfather and half sister killed. Another of her sisters gave birth to a child in the midst of the violence; providing food for the baby has been a constant struggle. Deema's fortitude and strength is remarkable. Throughout the choas she has helped to provide for her six siblings and her parents. She continues to study for English exams in the hope of being accepted to a UK or Irish university. She has not given up hope. With the current tenuous ceasfire there is a fragile possibility that she and her family can begin to rebuild their lives. We ask you to join them in hope and solidarity on the 11th of December.

Throwing Shapes: From the minds of Méabh McKenna, Ross Chaney, and WRWTFWW mainstay Gareth Quinn Redmond comes the self-titled debut of Throwing Shapes — a hypnotic, texturally rich exploration in sound. Led by the striking timbre of the Irish wire strung harp, the album weaves intricate instrumental tapestries with ambitious electronic synthesis and arrangements. @throwingshapes__

Madra Salach are a six piece folk band from Dublin. Originally meeting whilst playing various outfits on the city’s indie scene, their shared love of the Irish traditional canon brought them together. Taking inspiration from the growing experimental folk scene in Ireland, Madra Salach began focusing on original writing and composition, utilising electronic equipment. These songs, while strikingly modern thematically, are written with a voice that could have emerged at any point throughout the last century, and sit proudlyalongside a thoughtfully curated collection of folk standards.

GEIS originates from the Irish for spell, taboo or blessing. Within mythology geis or geasa have an essential function within narrative: commonly spoken by women of power or the othered/queered body, these words activate motion and initiate purpose within the temporality of the story. They are intentional motivational frameworks for events that unfold. GEIS present improvised soundmaking woven by Eleanor Myler, Elaine Malone, and Méabh McKenna, all who attend the space, and the environment in which the event occurs.

Dunny is the solo project of Donnacha O’Malley, one of the founding members of Dublin-based experimental band, Meltybrains?. He crafts vocal-driven compositions that blend experimental song structures with a rich tapestry of psychedelic sounds and influences. His debut album Schtum came out in November 2024. https://musicfromdunny.bandcamp.com/ - @dunnysmusic

Gráinnemir, is a Dublin-based Palestinian artist whose work spans acting, writing and facilitation. Through physical theatre and storytelling, they explore Palestinian identity through a queer lens, creating work that is intimate, expressive and rooted in resilience.Their performances weave movement, voice and narrative to hold space for connection, memory and resistance. Since moving to Ireland, Gráinnemir has continued to develop their work collaborating with Sorcha Fox—whom they met at TFT. Together, they focus on using cultural resistance through using performance as a means to confront and challenge oppression in all its forms. Gráinnemir’s recent achievements include co-curating Belonging, an event for the St. Patrick’s Festival in collaboration with Aoife Hammond for GOAL Ireland; playing the lead role in Prisoners of the Occupation at Smock Alley Theatre; and were part of Return to Palestine play. which received a five-star review from The Guardian at the PalArts Festival in London. Grainnemir is a member of the Freedom Theatre and a co-founder of the @friendsofthefreedomtheatre.ie check them out! Merchandise in support of The Freedom Theatre will be available on the night. You can also support their crowdfunder - https://www.idonate.ie/crowdfunder/friendsofthefreedomtheatreie

The Stay Human project emerged in Summer 2024 as a grassroots mutual aid initiative spanning Europe, Egypt, and Palestine. What began as emergency crowdfunding for food, water, and essential supplies for families in Jabalia, Northern Gaza, quickly evolved into something more powerful: education as a form of hope. When schools couldn't reopen for a new academic year, our Palestinian team members took action. They transformed part of a damaged building into a classroom, recruited teachers, and gathered educational supplies. By September 2024, the Stay Human school was born—offering Arabic, English, and Mathematics to 120 children in the community, around 30 of whom have been orphaned due to Israel's relentless attacks and blockade. We believe in community-led solutions built on solidarity, not charity. Our mission is three-fold: (1) Sustain our current school by continuing to fund our rented building and support our three dedicated teachers until formal education resumes in Gaza. (2) Expand our vision to create a flexible school camp with tent classrooms for different age groups, engaging 10 teachers and providing education to 180 students. (3) Provide essential humanitarian support by distributing food, water, baby supplies, and addressing sanitation needs based on community priorities and changing circumstances. Beyond academic learning, these spaces provide a psychologically supportive environment where children can rebuild friendships, play, and heal. https://www.stayhumancollective.com/ - @stayhuman_collective

Dublin Across the Atlantic Launch: Andrew Caden & Conor McDonagh

Andrew Caden (fiddle) and Conor McDonagh (flute) are two of the most promising young traditional musicians in Ireland today. Their debut album - Across the Atlantic - was produced by John Carty and released by Racket Records in June 2025. They are excited to be playing in the Cobblestone Backroom to celebrate the launch of their new recording.

Conor is from Killavil, Co. Sligo while Andrew comes from Bethesda, Maryland USA. Despite geological separation, they both share similar influences from around Conor's locality making this recording a representation of Sligo traditional music from both sides of the Atlantic. Their album was described by Mick O'Connor as "not only matching but truly carrying forward the legacy of the old masters," saying that Andrew and Conor both "deserve great credit for seeking out archival recordings and lesser-known versions of tunes."

The Irish from Brittany - A story of a migration

The Irish from Brittany

The Irish from Brittany is an artistic creation around Irish and Breton music which seeks to shed light on a lesser-known aspect of our history (Breton history), that is the immigration of tens of thousands of Irish people here over more than a century right up the 1800s. While researching the works of historians who have studied Irish immigration, the musicians found that hundreds of families had Irish surnames without knowing it. These names were Bretonised. “Súilleabháin” became “Soulevan”. These traces can also be found in the architecture and certain traditions. This Irish presence is attested to in the civil registers at that period.

"With the Irish of Brittany, we imagined what the meeting of both cultures might have been like, while still taking a certain amount of liberty. To do this, we composed songs and tunes and delved into traditional sources. We wanted to create an immersive experience using quotes taken from archives but also using soundscapes.” It is a very rich creation and an ambitious music encounter in four languages, Breton, Irish Gaelic, French and English. You will hear instruments that are emblematic of Irish music, and which have become firmly established alongside our own traditional music instruments.

"With this creation, we are giving the spectator an insight into an area of our own history that fascinates us as musicians.”

The Dublin Jazz Co-op

The Dublin Jazz Co-op Presents: Yesterdays

Yesterdays – Dorota Konchevska & Myles Drennan

The duo for this performance is vocalist/sound artist Dorota Konchevska and pianist Myles Drennan. Long-time collaborators, they have built a musical dialogue and friendship shaped by philosophy and play. Together, they honor the jazz lineage while not being stuck up their own arrangements.

Yesterdays begins in the intimate world of jazz standards and gradually unfolds into new soundscapes. What starts as a traditional duo transforms throughout the set - electronics seep in, poetry speaks through the music, and field recordings of nature mingle with improvisation. The result is order and play, silence … wonder and nice release.

Dorota Konczewska – Voice, Electronics, Sound ArtA vocalist, and audiovisual artist based in Ireland, Her distinct sound blends atmospheres, beats, and traditional instrumentation with fearless experimentation. The Empty Pockets

Join us for a night of live music with The Empty Pockets at The Cobblestone Backroom - don't miss out!

Light flickers in even the darkest of spaces and smallest cracks. Similarly, The Empty Pockets ignite a bright flame of their own by harnessing a joyful friction between Americana, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll spiked with roots soul. The Chicago quartet—Josh Solomon [guitar, vocals], Erika Brett [keyboards, vocals], Nate Bellon [bass, vocals], and Adam Balasco [drums]—lean on an unspoken, yet airtight musical dialogue honed by countless miles on the road, performances alongside the likes of Kenny Loggins, a procession of fan favorite releases (including two #1 Billboard Blues Albums), and a wealth of memories together.
