Alaskan Songwriters: Fortenbery, Vidic, Heist and Heist
Alaska-based songwriter Josh Fortenbery (guitar, bass, vocals) writes like a poet and moves between genres with ease, creating an inviting combination of country, folk, and bluegrass. His most recent album, Tidy Memorial, has received rave reviews from publications around the world and drawn comparisons to John Prine, cracking the top twenty on the US folk and alt-country charts.
The Heists have spent decades playing the bars and backrooms of Alaska, honing their close harmonies and collecting stories. Featuring Andrew Heist (mandolin, fiddle, vocals) and Erin Heist (guitar, bass, vocals), The Heists bring bluegrass drive, country emotion, and old-time groove to songs that speak to the heart of what it means to be raised in Alaska. Rounding out this Alaska supergroup is Taylor Dallas Vidic (snare, vocals), a prolific songwriter in her own right and one of Alaska’s most in-demand vocalists. Individually, members of this band have performed at Wintergrass, Rotterdam Bluegrass, Old Tone, Blackpot, and Treefort Music Festivals. This is their first tour in this configuration, and they bring a hard-driving, bluegrass attitude to new arrangements of their songs with an emphasis on toe-curling harmonies.
